Competitive events

Mountain Unicycling (MUni)

Unicycles take to the trails in our MUni events!  Riders demonstrate amazing technical skill as they navigate rocks and roots in our local parks.

Distance Unicycling

Distance riders use unicycles with wheels of up to 36" diameter, some with handlebars and gears.  The top riders can reach speeds of over 25 MPH, in events ranging from a short, intense criterium to a grueling 42km marathon.

Basketball

All games at Berkeley High School.

Preliminary Games (Thurs. July 15, 2pm) FREE to the Public
Championship Game (Fri. July 16, 8pm)
Cost is $5 for which you gain admittance to both the Basketball and Hockey (6pm) championship games.

This year's U Games will feature the Puerto Rico All Stars, the most successful team in Unicycle Basketball history, having won by far more world championships than other team.  Their biggest rival is the local team, the Berkeley Revolution, which placed second in the the most recent world championships held in New Zealand.

Hockey

Unicycle Hockey -- fun to watch, even more fun to play!

Championship Game (Fri.  July 16, 6pm)
Cost is $5 for which you gain admittance to both the Hockey and Basketball (8pm) championship games.

Trials, Street, and Flatland

The U Games meet the X Games, as the top riders jump over seemingly impossible obstacles while demonstrating flip tricks, spins, and maybe even an actual flip.

Freestyle Competition

In Freestyle unicycling, riders choreograph routines with music, costumes, and props while demonstrating technical riding skills.

Track and Field (Friday July 16, 8am)

  • 100 meter dash
  • High jump
  • Long jump
  • Nearly all the events you'd expect at a track meet.  (We haven't yet figured out the pole vault.)

The non-unicycling public is welcome and encouraged to attend our events!

Fun events

The week of U Games is filled with fun, non-competitive events for unicyclists, families, friends, and spectators.  Some of the highlights will include:
